Welcome to Candia Congregational Church! We are excited that you are considering worshipping with us! To make your first visit as “surprise-free” as possible we have put together some information highlighting what you can expect on a Sunday morning.
Expect to be greeted by a member of our welcoming team when you enter the main foyer. As a new visitor we have a gift bag for you as well!
Our worship service begins at 10:00 AM in our sanctuary on the main floor of the church. The worship time is a blend of contemporary music and traditional hymns supplemented with prayer. The sermon length is generally 30-40 minutes and is grounded in sound expository teaching of the Scriptures.
You will see people dressed casually and you will see people in 3-piece suits…we want you to be comfortable worshipping God not worrying about a dress code.
We currently offer child-care for children birth age to kindergarten during the sermon time. They will receive age-appropriate Bible teaching from trusted volunteers. Security of your children is very important to us so all volunteers have undergone criminal background checks. You are also completely free to keep your children with you throughout the service to worship together as a family. Kid noise is a joyful noise to the Lord!
Join us downstairs in our Fellowship Hall for some complimentary coffee, tea, and conversation after our worship service. We would love an opportunity to know you better and answer any questions you might have for us!
If you have a question for us that we have not addressed here please reach out to us at office@candiacongregational.org or (603) 483-0506. We hope to see you soon!
The Bible explains that God created us, sustains us and should have total authority in our lives. In love, He made us in His image so that we would seek to honor Him as the true Creator.
“The God who made the world and everything in it is the Lord of heaven and earth and does not live in temples built by human hands. 25 And he is not served by human hands, as if he needed anything. Rather, he himself gives everyone life and breath and everything else. 26 From one man he made all the nations, that they should inhabit the whole earth; and he marked out their appointed times in history and the boundaries of their lands. 27 God did this so that they would seek him and perhaps reach out for him and find him, though he is not far from any one of us.” (Acts 17:24-27)
Instead of seeking God, man rebels against God’s authority and chooses to live his own way. The Bible says that failure to recognize God’s authority is sin. The penalty for our sin is death-both physical death and eternal separation from God in hell. Man rightly deserves this judgment for failing to honor his Creator.
As it is written: “There is no one righteous, not even one; there is no one who understands; there is no one who seeks God. All have turned away, they have together become worthless; there is no one who does good, not even one.” (Romans 3:10-12)
“For all have sinned and fall short of the glory of God” (Romans 3:23).
“The wages of sin is death” (Romans 6:23).
God’s great love and mercy can extend a pardon to sinners. God sent His Son, Jesus Christ, to die on the cross to pay sin’s penalty. In His death, Jesus endured the punishment that sinners deserve and therefore satisfied the wrath of God. Now it is possible for sinners to be made right with Him and receive eternal life.
“For God so loved the world that he gave his one and only Son, that whoever believes in him shall not perish but have eternal life. For God did not send his Son into the world to condemn the world, but to save the world through him.” (John 3:16-17).
You see, at just the right time, when we were still powerless, Christ died for the ungodly. Very rarely will anyone die for a righteous person, though for a good person someone might possibly dare to die. But God demonstrates his own love for us in this: While we were still sinners, Christ died for us. Since we have now been justified by his blood, how much more shall we be saved from God’s wrath through him! (Romans 5:6-9).
When you believe by faith alone in Jesus in his death and resurrection and tell God that you believe in Jesus then you will be forgiven. When you confess who Jesus is and ask for forgiveness you receive God’s forgiveness for your failures and sins. We agree with God that we have a big problem and we agree with God that Jesus Christ is the big solution.
“For what I received I passed on to you as of first importance: that Christ died for our sins according to the Scriptures, 4 that he was buried, that he was raised on the third day according to the Scriptures.” (1Cor. 15:3-4).
“The jailer called for lights, rushed in and fell trembling before Paul and Silas. 30 He then brought them out and asked, ‘Sirs, what must I do to be saved?’ They replied, ‘Believe in the Lord Jesus, and you will be saved—you and your household.’” (Acts 16:29-31).
If you declare with your mouth, “Jesus is Lord,” and believe in your heart that God raised him from the dead, you will be saved. For it is with your heart that you believe and are justified, and it is with your mouth that you profess your faith and are saved. As Scripture says, “Anyone who believes in him will never be put to shame.” For there is no difference between Jew and Gentile—the same Lord is Lord of all and richly blesses all who call on him, for, “Everyone who calls on the name of the Lord will be
It can seem overwhelming to come into the presence of God for the first time…especially to admit our guilt. However, we can trust that He wants nothing more than to listen to your prayer and forgive you. There is no need for fancy words or special “Christian-speak”; pray something simple and direct like this:
Lord, I admit I am a sinner. I need and want Your forgiveness. I accept Your death as the penalty for my sin, and recognize that Your mercy and grace is a gift You offer to me because of Your great love, not based on anything I have done. Cleanse me and make me Your child. By faith I receive You into my heart as the Son of God and as Savior and Lord of my life. From now on, help me live for You, with You in control. In Your name, Jesus. Amen
If you have prayed this prayer for the first time, welcome home to God’s Kingdom! Please contact a Christian friend or family member who can begin to guide you in your new relationship with God. We would love to be a part of that guidance as well. Would you consider emailing us at office@candiacongregational.org or calling our office at (603) 483-0506 to share this news with us? May the LORD bless you and keep you; the LORD make his face shine on you and be gracious to you; the LORD turn his face toward you and give you peace. (Numbers 6:24-26).
